Jeremy Blair Biography

Jeremy Blair is a choreographer, performer, and teacher based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jeremy received an MFA in choreography from the University of Iowa, a BA in theatre from Millikin University, and is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Jeremy has performed with Thodos Dance Chicago, Lucky Plush Productions, Chicago Moving Company, Khecari Dance Theatre, Aerial Dance Chicago, and Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago, and with Friches Theatre Urbaine in Paris. His performance work includes performing choreography by Bob Fosse, Lar Lubovitch, Lucas Crandall, Ann Reinking, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, and Jennifer Muller, among others.

 

His choreography explores the politics of gender in a variety of forms including concert dance, solo work, and ballroom duets. His work blends dance genres and artistic disciplines, and he seeks out collaboration with other artists. His choreography has been presented at Jacob’s Pillow, City Center, Gibney, Harris Theatre, and other venues throughout the United States.

 

Jeremy currently serves on the dance faculty at Western Michigan University, choreographs, and teaches yoga. He is collaborating with Soprano Shelby VanNordstrand on The Giving Voice Project, which explores female characters from Shakespeare's canon through song and dance. The first installment, Project: Ophelia, has been performed at UNO and UT-RGV, and is slated for performances again in 2019.
